Lucas Tyler Gilheaney’s parents must be absolutely heartbroken.

Their little boy, who died suddenly, was described as a healthy baby who was ‘no trouble’.

Seven-month-old Tyler was discovered by his horrified dad William in the couple’s bed at home in Newchurch, Rossendale, on March 24.

The tot was rushed across the street to a pharmacist and a neighbour, who was a firefighter, tried to revive him.

But after being taken to Fairfield Hospital, he was pronounced dead.

An inquest at Burnley Coroner’s Court has recorded an open verdict, leaving his anxious parents still searching for answers.

But child pathologist Dr Melanie Newbould told the hearing there was a higher incidence of cot deaths when parents slept with babies in their own bed.

Now Lucas’s mum Helen said she would back any efforts to raise awareness of cot deaths as the couple were eager for other parents not to have to go through their heartache.

And the couple are also encouraging mum and dads not to allow their little ones to sleep in their beds.

It’s a message which all parents need to heed.
