FOUR-year-old Edward Cassidy has been given a chance to live a normal life after receiving an artificial eye.
The Accrington boy calls it his ‘magic eye’ and even cleans it at night when he brushes his teeth.
He was diagnosed with the rare eye cancer retinoblastoma in his right eye when he was just 20 months old.
After an operation to remove the tumour, he was left with sight in only one eye.
His parents say he will learn to live with his condition due to his age.
Edward’s resilience and courage is so typical of the bravery of children whether they are battling physical illness, aggressive cancer or diabetes.
Living with Type 1 diabetes can be a daily struggle as the children have to inject themselves from a very young age.
They show outstanding courage even more than their grown-up counterparts.
And who can forget brave Madison Allan who is currently undergoing treatment in Germany to shrink the tumour wrapped around her internal organs?
These little fighters are truly amazing.
