COME on England! The World Cup’s finally here after four years of anticipation.
For those who love football it is a month-long sporting feast.
Those who can’t see the point of 22 men kicking a ball around should probably take a holiday as East Lancashire has gone World Cup crazy.
Streets, pubs, businesses and cars are decked out on in St George’s flags.
Businesses are bringing in big screens for workers, and fans are planning special parties for games.
Everywhere you turn there are World Cup offers, while all the chat seems to be about football.
Blackburn Town Hall is even having the cross of St George beamed on to it at night.
Now, after all the hype, the tournament is finally here and expectations are as high as ever.
It would be amazing if England can finally deliver after 44 years of hurt.
Fabio Capello’s boys bringing home the trophy would spark one of the biggest parties ever seen.
But, before that is even a possibility, a roller-coaster month of drama lies ahead.
And East Lancashire will be riding on the crest of every wave.
Bring it on!
