I CALL them John 3:16-ers. Even now they're limbering up for the FA Cup Final, and then they'll be off to Germany to wave John 3:16 banners behind the goal at June's World Cup.

I saw them last week at the Commonwealth games, and also at the Winter Olympics just by the ski jump. Energetic John 3:16-ers have already got tee-shirts ready for the London Marathon later this month.

My daughter's in it doing a run for her mum - raising money for Macmillan Cancer nurses who helped Linda cope with her last days. Daughter Cathryn will be surrounded by chicken suits, diving suits, near-birthday suits and the obligatory sprinkling of John 3:16-ers.

Some of you Bible buffs have cottoned on already. Verse sixteen of chapter three of John's gospel is a perfect summary of the Bible's God News.

"God so loved the world," - and in place of 'world' you can put your own name -- "that he gave his only Son that all who believe in him should not perish but have eternal life."

Here's another great promise from John 1:12, "To all who received him (Jesus, that is) to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God."

Trust your divine dad, receive him and he accepts you. For eternity! Amazing! John 3:16-ers think they're on a winner. Hope it rubs off on England this summer.
