WHERE have the folk with tolerance and common sense all gone to?
If they are in Government they are keeping their heads down. We are under constant attack: our values, beliefs completely ignored, disregarded. Someone should write a charter for today, starting with Think Britain first, put Britain first,' and then when all is well with the folk here, then look further afield.
But please stop attacking our institutions; let's keep our Royal Mail, Christmas, free speech, marriage, railways and all those ways of life that seem to be slipping away.
The country needs stability, needs its history. Personal freedoms are being insidiously eroded, have you proof of your identity?' don't you park there,' how dare you say that,' don't sing that song,' don't fly that flag,' don't smoke.' And taxation, that is constantly rising by devious means, speed cameras, rates, petrol, parking, congestion charges, the list is endless and we just sit here and let it happen.
Then, I suppose, it's the nature of the beast, to wait and see how far they will go. Let's hope we don't wait too long and find out it's too late.
I have been in London this week at Discovery Channel House, which is in a great new office estate at Chiswick.
It's so futuristic, so way out, I felt like I was in a space movie streets of huge buildings all entirely of glass, wide avenues with man made pools and streams.
I went to discuss a project.' Since entering the world of TV I've learned to speak a different language, but as I told them If you can understand a Lancashire accent you can a understand owt.' TV folk inhabit a world of their own. I asked Did your mums know when you lot were born that you were going to be in TV?
Why ask that?' Well who else calls their children Tristan, St John, Eloisa May.' They all have names that seem to match their jobs.
On Sunday I was with my St George's Day lot for our Christmas do at the Butlers at Pleasington.
The food was good and hot and what was even better reasonably priced.
Oh yes, I'm a big believer in the saying Price affects appreciation.' I'M glad we have people protecting our Corporation Park. Lancashire County Council is planning to build a school in Burnley's lovely Towneley Park, so it looks like they are going to lose it. Vandals! Don't they know we need our green spaces?
Shopping in Tescos the other day I thought we pretend we are concerned about global warming, but what do we do about it?
Not a lot. Stand at any checkout and count the plastic bags being used. Folk have loads and it's every time they shop. All that waste, so unnecessary. Now, is it making you feel guilty? I hope so.
If we are at these shops, we are in cars. How difficult is it to keep some bags in the boot? Now then I won't tell you about this again, next time it will be straight to bed and no tea, do you hear me?
