A POLICEMAN was being given a load of cheek by a group of young lads so he threatened the ringleader with "now then if you don't behave yourself, shut up and go home I'll put you in that bin" but the lad continued to mouth off.

The policeman picked him up and for a brief moment put him in the bin.

The lad sued the police and got £4,000 for the 'trauma' he'd suffered.

What sort of message is that sending out to that lad and his mates?

It says 'you just carry on lads, provoke, aggravate, and generally behave like gits because it's very financially rewarding'.

And what about the mother, giving the lad an attitude which unfortunately will be with him for life.

What is the answer? Well in these days of all rights and no wrongs it's very difficult.

But what I'd love to think maybe one cure is a covered cage (well we don't want them getting wet) in the town centre where all the public nuisances, the brawlers and obscene language offenders would have to stay for an hour or two on show, being laughed at and looking the morons they are.

That would teach them what it's like on the receiving end, and as for their street cred - it would be absolute zero.
