Truly Irresistible Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2014, £6.99, Co-op
There’s a strong mouth quenching taste of lime and grapefruit in this Co-op own-label Chilean Sauvignon Blanc from the increasingly popular Leyda Valley. There’s a clean feel to a 13.5% white that is extremely well priced and holds its own against the strong competition from New Zealand in another corner of the southern hemisphere.
TI Casablanca Valley Pinot Noir 2013, £7.99, Co-op
The second half of an own-label Chilean double this week is this Pinot Noir which is wonderfully smooth and has masses of cherries along with a hint of smokiness. It will go down a treat with lighter red meat and all kinds of poultry and, although fairly strong at 14%, it is a red which tastes good slightly chilled. A good value buy.
