BILL and I attended the special service for St George, which was held at the Cathedral and very good it was too.
I must admit that I was greatly impressed by the cathedral’s beautiful ceilings — they are quite stunning.
The cup cakes to which we were treated to after the service, for a small fee, were also lovely.
Do you know why?
Well, because they were just like the ones my mother used to think she made.
I have never been much of a baker myself, but I am glad to say my son has not only the knack, but on the odd occasion he also has the inclination, so that solves yet another of my little problems.
Now! I hate to bore you with my problems, but at the moment I am suffering from the dreaded tinnitus — for the uninitiated that’s a continual ringing or buzzing noise in the head.
Apart from decapitation, there doesn’t seem to be any cure for it, so it’s a case of ‘Oh for heaven’s sake, just shut up Margo and get on with it’.
So that is what I am doing, but I can assure you it is not at all easy to cope with this.
I am becoming quite fascinated at the moment watching the wildlife in my garden and I know it sounds a little bit naff, but if I am not careful a half hour or so can easily pass as I watch the antics of the little squirrel that comes down from the big fir tree to forage on the bits I have put out for the birds.
He or she is very selective and carefully chooses the meaty bits which I find a little odd as I always thought that they were strictly vegetarian.
I always promised myself that I would never say a word against, what to me, is the absolute madness of men and their love and obsession with football.
Over the past week or so I have, in fact, endeavoured to watch a game or two and, I suppose, have gained a glimmer of what they find so fascinating about the sport.
I think that they are not merely watching, but are also mentally playing and living the dream, otherwise how could they feel so strongly about it, I ask myself?
You just have to look at men watching a game and they are out there on the field, and it makes me wonder what game would make women feel like that, or maybe it’s just me.
Now well into planning my bucket trip – it’s getting longer by the minute.
