IF you leave things as they are, sooner or later people will notice. As someone who drives through the mean streets of Blackburn on pointless trips to either buy a loaf of bread or pick up someone who doesn’t want to waste his petrol, I have become accustomed to noticing ‘blocked lanes that do not need to be blocked’.
I’m sorry but I could not re-phrase that any other way.
MORE TOP STORIES:
There are several places roadworks do not need to be and we as motorists are having to put up with the delays.
This is normally due to someone at the Highways Department having, in my opinion, simply forgotten to pick up the cones or the plastic dividers.
The best example of this is near the Fire Station on Freckleton Street.
We have two lanes becoming one for no apparent reason.
Why this lane is blocked? I have no idea.
Is the building unsafe? Is there a sink hole?
There is no reason for this lane to be blocked.
Can someone please clarify why this is so?
Then further down this road on to Byrom Street up until Wednesday this week the lane was again blocked at the traffic lights.
There was no evidence of any work going on for at least two weeks.
Then further round on Canterbury Street we have a section with some road works going on. Not sure how long it takes to fill a hole up but come on!
What is this, the stone age? We have machines and manpower. How about we allow drivers to fill up the holes between the hours of 8am-9am every day. I can guarantee roads would get fixed within days.
I personally think this is all part of some government conspiracy to make the common man use more petrol and to make him more irate.
Or this is part some wide-ranging plan to ensure we never forget who the boss is.
I won’t for a moment mention the poor fellow having to place all those cobbles back on Church Street. Now that was a tough job all round and I respect him for it.
Just a minute . . . didn’t we finish that some time ago. I am pretty certain it was all done and dusted. I recollect Her Majesty coming to inspect and officially open the road.
Maybe that was another Church Street in another town.
Must have been.
