Cuvee Pecheur 2013, £4.99, Waitrose
Festivities mean most of us are now spent up but that doesn’t mean we have to drink rubbish. Waitrose prove that you can get some style and quality ¬in the world of wine ¬– without even spending a fiver.
This French white from Gascony made from Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes is dry, fresh and just 11.5%.
Cuvee Chasseur 2013, £4.99, Waitrose
From the same stable here’s a red blend of Carignan and Grenache from near Carcassonne almost at the French border with Spain en route to Barcelona.
It’s lovely and warm, smooth and a little spicy too with 12% alcohol. There’s also a Rose called Cuvee Fleur made nearby from Cinsault grapes at the same astonishing price.
