Exquisite Clare Valley Riesling, £6.99, Aldi
If you need to rush out and replenish your wine stocks before the New Year here are two bargains from your local Aldi store. First is a very tasty, dry Riesling from South Australia’s Clare Valley which is full of green apples, grapefruit and lime flavours.
It’s refreshing and goes especially well with seafood and Chinese or Thai food and is 12.5% alcohol.
Exquisite Wairarapa Pinot Noir, £6.99, Aldi
Wairarapa is a wine region at the south end of New Zealand’s North Island and this Pinot Noir has ripe cherries, raspberries and plums in abundance. You will find it is every bit as good as Kiwi Pinot’s that cost up to £5 more, not to mention French Burgundies which aren’t nearly as good but are at ‘silly money’ prices.
Alcohol is 13% - an absolute steal.
