Etoile de Mer Rose 2013, £11.99, Majestic
The price comes down to a very reasonable £8.99 each if you buy two bottles of this elegant looking (and tasting) 13% rose from France’s Languedoc region before September 29.
The wine comes from an area between Mount Ventoux and the Med coast and the grapes are a mix of Syrah or Shiraz and Cinsault. Lovely summery strawberry flavours.
Clefs du Pontif Marsanne Viognier 2013, £8.99, averys.com
Marsanne grapes are best known in France’s Rhone region but here their creamy taste is blended with the apricots and peaches that you get from Viognier to produce a white that’s refreshingly different to all those Sauvignon Blancs that fill supermarket shelves.
The alcohol level is 12.5% and you’ll get it online from wine merchants Avery’s of Bristol founded in 1793.
