I AM, like most people on the planet, completely ‘Royal babied’ out. I like the Royal family. If any member of the Royal family ever visited my house they would certainly get to use the proper plates rather than the paper ones.
I might even let them sit on my special chair and serve them my special homemade pasta.
I must say the build-up was pretty great. The sun was out and the warm weather put everyone in a happy mood and a Royal baby was on its way.
As soon as the announcement was made, I, like most other people, was happy for the mum and dad. But then ‘they’ got carried away.
Royal baby or not, we just want to say congratulations and leave the couple alone.
Then we did what we normally do in these situations – we went completely overboard.
The waiting period was simply unbearable. And you couldn’t escape from this frenzy to see the little fellow.
Without sounding completely insensitive, I think this was more of a ‘woman thing’. It is very much like the time you visit someone you know who has given birth. After five minutes I am normally in the car.
The worst moments saw ‘Royal correspondents’ spouting absolute nonsense to fill the waiting period.
There was talk about his supposed hair and then about other people’s hair and interviews with people who may have similar hair and so forth.
One TV channel commentator mentioned the fact Kate still had a baby bump. Shocking, a day after giving birth she still had a baby bump. If a bloke is annoyed with that comment, then I would guess most women would be too!
They actually had breaking news in that period where I am trying to watch something interesting on TV to try to get through the last few hours of a fast.
This made me even more irate than I normally would be at that time of day.
Eventually, things did die down after we all realised we had in fact gone a little crazy.
