THE problem with this country is, we run out of things too fast. When it snowed we ran out of grit and when it rained we ran out umbrellas (well I did anyway).
Now, they have run out paddling pools. Yes, there are no paddling pools left on the planet due to the couple of weeks of decent weather.
If there are any paddling pool makers out there, you need to be ashamed of yourselves.
We are one of the most advanced nations in the world who pride ourselves as business leaders, but when we run out of things – we run out of them big time.
But cometh the hour cometh the toy shop! In my case it was Toymaster in the Blackburn Mall. Has no-one else figured out a sandpit can actually be a pool too?
I would also love for us to stop moaning about the ‘heatwave’. Let me be clear about things – this is not a heatwave.
In my opinion you can only class something as a heatwave when the temperature hits at least 35 degrees for longer than a month. This is just some decent weather.
At the moment I am getting warnings from the government because we have had the sun out for a few days.
You will not see most people complain if it stays like this for the next few weeks. What would we rather have… sunshine and showers?
The strange thing is, last year it poured down and we were told there would be a hosepipe ban. This year, well, Water UK says there are no plans to impose a hosepipe ban as reservoir levels are where they should be.
As there is nothing else to report on, we are getting some fantastic advice from the government on how to deal with the hot weather.
Now we hear that a survey found that more than two out of five firms were sending staff home to enjoy the sun. And MPs want managers to send staff home if workplaces get hotter than 30C.
Why don’t we just forget about working altogether and ‘chillax’ at home in the back gardens?
There is a ‘heatwave’ on, you see.
