THE Lancashire Telegraph’s Grit Watch campaign aims to keep East Lancashire’s roads snow and ice-free.
After the success of last winter’s drive, we need your help again to let us know when things just aren’t good enough.
This winter has so far been relatively mild, but now the temperatures are set to plunge and we want to know how well stocked your salt bins are and if your roads have been gritted.
The Telegraph got in touch with local councils last year and helped raise awareness of the desperate situation the snow causes for elderly people who can’t get out in icy conditions.
We also highlighted the terrible problems untreated side roads cause and the nightmare this results in for residents once the temperatures plummet.
We passed on the information we collected to councils to help them organise where roads needed to be gritted most urgently. We also pointed out who was most at risk and examined how well the councils managed when the weather got really bad.
So, we are asking for you to once again let the Telegraph know of any problem areas that the gritters have not reached so we can help keep East Lancashire moving and hold councils to account.
