GLASSES have been raised at the Hamers Arms pub in Higher Summerseat to toast fundraising regulars.
Thanks to a series of events, Manchester’s Francis House Children’s Hospice has been presented with a cheque for £5,000.
Since the hospice was “adopted” as the main fundraising beneficiary by Sheila and Geoffrey Owen six years ago, the pub has raised £12,000 for the hospice.
Landlady Mrs Owen said: “The latest £5,000 was raised over the last 18 months and events included tombolas, stalls, stock car racing sponsorship, silent auctions and a sponsored Three Towers walk.
“We say a massive thank-you to everyone who helped raise the money and to local businesses for their kind assistance.
"Without them all, we couldn’t have done this.”
Kate Puc, fundraising officer for Francis House, said: “We are delighted with this latest cheque and I love my annual visits to Higher Summerseat.
"It is such a small and very friendly community, but they do exceptionally well when it comes to fundraising for Francis House.
"Everyone is so kind.”
