A ROSSENDALE mum who created an innovative online ‘swap shop’ as a lasting memorial to her father has raised £6,000 for charity.
Tania Jackson, 31, of Summerseat, set up a Facebook group ‘swap, shop or give away’ after her dad, Terry Howarth, was diagnosed with lung cancer in September, 2009.
He died on June 4, aged 65.
Now, following a number of online sales, raffles, and her first charity event, she has raised £6,000 for Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust, which runs the Lancaster oncology unit which treated her father.
Tania said: “My first charity event went really well.
“I got 35 people to accompany Lancashire Hauntings at Samlesbury Hall.
“The mediums donated their time and services for free to ensure that more money would be made from the event.”
Tania’s next charity event will be a fun day at The Waterside, in Summerseat, on August 28, from 1pm.
