A ROSSENDALE village was visited by a BAFTA nominee yesterday as part of an Easter celebration.
St Peter’s Church, in Newchurch, welcomed film and TV star Jane Horrocks at the ‘stations of the cross’ display, in the village square, which marked Jesus’ final hours on earth.
Jane, best known for her role as Bubble in Absolutely Fabulous, and her starring role in Little Voice, drew the crowds.
Coun Jim Pilling said: “It’s great that Jane turned out for Good Friday.
“She knows Rossendale well because she is from Rawtenstall, so it’s good for the people to see her.”
Jane is currently playing the 1940s singer and comedienne Gracie Fields in the BBC drama Gracie.
The drama is based at the beginning of World War II and Jane, 45, takes the leading role.
