Police in Weir have reacted to residents’ concerns about speeding drivers by doing speed checks on Burnley Road, where two fixed penalty notices have been handed out.

Community beat manager Richard Paddon said: “The main problem is that the limit changes from 40mph to 30 and people are just not slowing down.

“We will continue speed enforcement in this area until we drive this issue home.”
