OFFICERS from Rossendale police have completed an anti-car crime operation in Whitworth and Edenfield.
Specialist automatic number plate recognition teams joined the officers.
The aim of the exercise was to target the main routes leading into the Rossendale area from Greater Manchester, with a view to identifying those intending to commit crimes within the borough.
As a result of the exercise, over 100 vehicles were stopped, four vehicles were seized, having been used without valid insurance, 15 road traffic offences were punished and seven searches of vehicles and persons were conducted.
PS Ben Hodgkinson, Rossendale crime co-ordinator, said: “If you travel into the Rossendale area, you will be stopped by the police and dealt with robustly.”
No arrests were made during the operation.
