A RECORD in memory of tragic student Sophie Lancaster will be released by a metal outfit next month.
Vocalist Simon Hall, of Beholder, says he wrote the lyrics to Never Take Us Down after hearing of former Haslingden High pupil Sophie’s death following a gang attack in Bacup’s Stubbylee Park in August 2007.
He said: “The news of Sophie's murder sent shockwaves around all those who choose to be part of an alternative lifestyle.”
All proceeds from the song, which has the blessing of Sophie’s mother Sylvia Lancaster and is released on May 11 through Lime Records as a download single, will be donated to the foundation set up in the student’s name.
The band will also headline a stage named in Sophie’s honour at the Bloodstock festival in August.
