A REBEL landlord will appear in court next week to begin his challenge over a conviction for allowing customers to smoke.
Nick Hogan, of Summerseat, Rossendale, is due at Bolton Crown Court on Friday to fix a date for an appeal hearing.
He was found guilty of four charges of failing to prevent people from smoking following a trial at Bolton Magistrates' Court in January.
He was fined £3,000 - £750 for each conviction - and ordered to pay £7,121 in costs.
It relates to his time as landlord of The Swan and Barristers in Bradshawgate, Bolton town centre.
Mr Hogan, who now runs The Swan With Two Necks, Chorley, said: "We need to show what a ridiculous law this is.
"I'm not pro-smoking, I'm pro-choice. It is not up to this nanny state to decide."
