THE village of Weir turned out in force for a fete to raise money for Kidney Research as thanks for helping a youngster. Mum Leanne Hudson, 33, (pictured left with daughter Jennifer) organised the event after her two-year-old Jennifer made a full recovery from had a condition called Duplex Kidneys, which meant she had two ureters draining from each kidney instead of one. Jennifer had operations on both kidneys at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and they raised money for Kidney Research, in conjunction with community group Weir Pride.
