IDENTICAL twins have been remanded in custody after being accused of breaking an interim ASBO within four hours of it being imposed.
Ashleigh and Katie Lynch, 19, of Fairfield Avenue, Edgeside, Rossendale, both denied using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour which they are banned from doing under the interim anti-social behaviour order.
They appeared before Burnley magistrates yesterday, after the interim order was made by Rossendale magistrates on Wednesday afternoon.
The twins are alleged to have flouted the interim order within four hours of it being made.
They are said to have been abusive and insulting to a neighbour and to have sworn in front of police when officers arrived.
The sisters were given the interim order after complaints from Waterfoot residents about alleged nuisance and drunken behaviour.
Under the ASBO they are prohibited from using or inciting any other person to use threatening abusive insulting or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
They are also banned from being drunk in a public place, drinking alcohol in a public place or carrying an open container of alcohol in a public place.
The twins will now face trial over the alleged breach of the order and were remanded in custody until June 7.
