Measures are being put in place in a bid to stop lorries from using a narrow village lane.
Residents of Chatterton have had to endure months of problems with HGVs using the village to access the former Chatterton Mill, which is now occupied by a home furnishings company.
And the issue was made even worse by satellite navigation systems directing the lorry drivers down Chatterton Old Lane rather than the traditionally-used and wider Chatterton Road.
Now the county council has announced it has bigger signs on order, which will be put at Chatterton Old Lane, advising lorries not to use the route. It had earlier admitted that an existing sign was insufficient to tackle the problem.
A spokesperson said: "The signs will say that the road is unsuitable for heavy vehicles and will warn that the road narrows, so hopefully anyone who does not have local knowledge will take heed. SatNav is an issue in Lancashire and we do write to ordinance survey about the information that they give to SatNav companies."
He added that the new signs should be in place in about a month.
Councillor Daryll Smith said it was terrific news and he looks forward to the signs being in place as quickly as possible.
He said: "Residents in Chatterton have had to put up with considerable inconvenience with HGVs trying to access Chatterton Mill via Chatterton Old Lane.
For too long residents have experienced damage to walls and to street lamps, some of which have still not been fixed since the last major incident in January.
"Hopefully the new signage will finally bring about a satisfactory conclusion to the situation."
In January a lorry got stuck at the bottom of the road for four hours, blocking access and damaging lamp-posts and walls.
There have been at least two more incidents since then and dangerously, the lane is used by The Learning Tree pre-school's walking bus, to get to their base at St Philip's Church, at the bottom of the road.
