PUPILS have earned a Ramsbottom primary school £200 by recycling old Yellow Pages.
Summerseat Methodist Primary has been named the Silver Birch winner in the Yellow Woods Challenge, an environmental campaign for schools run by Yellow Pages, conservation charity the Woodland Trust, and Bury Council.
The Rowlands Road school came second in the competition, behind nearby school Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary, and beat off competition from 30 other schools across Bury.
Collectively pupils recycled 4,469 directories and raised enough money to plant and care for 70 native trees in England.
The Woodland Trust will use the money to support its Tree For All' campaign - the most ambitious children's tree-planting project ever launched in the UK.
