A ROSSENDALE woman who lost her dad to cancer is taking part in Burnley’s Race for Life in his memory.
Peter Gallagher died in January 2013, aged 59, after a two-year battle with cancer of the oesophagus.
Now his daughter Esme, from Loveclough, is urging East Lancashire mums, daughters, sisters and friends to make a defiant stand against cancer by entering the Race for Life 5k event at Towneley Hall, Burnley, on June 15.
She said: “Dad was always such a well man, so when he was diagnosed with cancer we just couldn’t believe it. We were completely devastated.
“It’s going to be an incredibly emotional event, but I know dad would be proud of me.”
