WHITWORTH families enjoyed a trip to the seaside at the annual family fun day at the Riverside Civic Hall.
Organisers said this year’s event had a distincly coastal feel to it despite being more than an hour inland.
The Whitworth Tourism and Leisure Committee, which planned the fun day, said more than 1,000 turned out in glorious sunshine despite the pull of watching Andy Murray make history at Wimbledon.
Councillor David Chorlton, chair of the Whitworth Tourism and Leisure Committee, said: “We had a fantastic day and were lucky to get such amazing weather – especially when you remember that we had to cancel last year’s event due to the awful conditions.
“We’ve had some great feedback and are looking forward to doing it all again in 2014. Many thanks and offered to all who came along on the day, and to everyone involved in the event’s organisation.”
