A POPULAR former hotel and pub boss has died aged 91.

Florence Jackson, known as Flo, ran the Moorcock Inn, Waddington, for years with her family.

It was her father, Walter, who bought a ‘two up, two down’ inn and called it the Moorcock in 1926.

Her son Mike Watson said that she worked as a volunteer fire engine driver during the Second World War while her husband, Ken Watson, was a pilot in the RAF.

In the 1950s Ken and Flo took control of the running of the hotel and restored its fortunes, until it was sold in the early 70s.

Mr Watson said: “She had a great zest for life, greatly enjoyed the companionship of close friends and was invariably laughing or having fun in order to make others happy."

The funeral is at St Helen’s Church, Waddington, at 1pm on Friday.
