THE owners of the flooded Aspinall Arms in Mitton brought cheer during the miserable weather with an amusing sign outside the pub.
It read: “Construction for our new moat has gone horribly wrong! Pop in for a free coffee. Wellies provided.”
The pub had to close when its car park became water-logged.
However, owner Simon Forster, kept his doors open for people who wanted respite from the weather.
He said: “It was the worst flooding I’ve seen in all the years I’ve been here.
“We had to close for food because there was no where for staff and customers to park but I stayed open for people who wanted a free hot drink during the terrible weather.”
