A STRETCH of the A59 at Copster Green will be the site of major roadworks to repair damage caused by HGVs.
Lancashire County Council is to invest £540,000 on resurfacing the road and reinforcing part of the carriageway that has been damaged by lorries in recent years.
The work will begin on October 27 and is scheduled to last for eight weeks. Although the road will be kept open using temporary traffic lights an alternative route via the A6119 and A666 will be signposted for the duration of the works. This route is unsuitable for high vehicles due to a 4metre height restriction on a bridge on the A666.
The affected area runs from 100m east of Copster Green to 800m west of the A59/Ribchester Road junction.
