THE GENERAL Election may be hogging the political limelight, but the councillors elected in town hall elections tomorrow could have at least as much impact on life in East Lancashire.
All authorities in the area apart from Ribble Valley and Lancashire County Council are re-electing a third of their members.
These have the final say on vital issues including roads, regeneration, housing and waste collection.
East Lancashire does not have a single Labour-controlled council after recent elections.
But with the poll falling on the same day as the General Election, voter turnout is expected to be far higher than in recent years.
And that could make for a night of surprises.
