* The Conservatives may be jostling for cabinet positions should David Cameron manage to win a majority on May 6, but Ribble Valley’s Nigel Evans has his eye on one specific prize.
His reward for hanging on to his 14,000 majority should be the top spot in the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group.
Mr Evans is currently vice-chair of the 400-strong group.
The current chairman, Selby MP John Grogan, is stepping down.
* Janis Sharp, who is challenging Jack Straw in Blackburn, wrote on Twitter that she wanted to “stand for civil liberties”.
But town hall bosses told the campaigning mother of computer hacker Gary McKinnon she had to be listed as “independent.”
* A computer glitch came at the wrong time for voters in Blackburn looking to register ahead of yesterday’s deadline.
The council’s homepage, which includes advice and postal vote forms to download, was offline for much of the day following a problem that began last week.
* I’m hoping to secure an interview with Blackburn independent candidate, Bushra Irfan.
Her people have told us this can only happen with the help of an independent witness, a tape recorder and their approval for the final article.

* Kitty Ussher’s Rosehill house, which became the departing Burnley MP’s designated second home, has not shifted since it was put up for sale in November.
“It’s still available”, she told me.
* Jack Straw will be on display alongside Bruce Forsyth on polling day.
