THE funeral has been held of a Laneshawbridge policeman who died during his bestfriend’s stag party in Newcastle.
PC Neil Hustwit, 30, was laid to rest following a moving ceremony at the Priory Church, in Bolton Abbey, where he and his widow Jayne married.
The father-of-two has been described by Mrs Hustwit as ‘lovely, generous and clever’.
He died despite colleagues’ efforts to revive him after fainting in a pub he had just entered.
The party for his best friend, Robert Shackleton, was being held in the city after the volcanic ash cloud forced the cancellation of their flight to Spain, where the event had been planned.
Neil, a psychology graduate from Lincoln University, had been with West Yorkshire police for seven years.
The coroner has so far failed to find the cause of PC Hustwit’s death and an inquest has been opened and adjourned.
