PLUMES of smoke which could be seen across Burnley and Pendle late on Sunday afternoon were caused by brush burning on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border.
Controlled fires were set across moorland, near the boundary between Laneshawbridge, near Colne, and Oakworth, close to Scar Top.
The 100-metre high plumes came from fire started on land off Two Laws Road, opposite Water Sheddles reservoir, a mile beyond Wycoller Country Park.
