VILLAGERS have been called on to pull together to keep a chapel open.
Only four people regularly attend weekly services at Laneshawbridge Methodist Chapel, Keighley Road, but the building is a valuable asset to the village as a base for public functions and parish meetings.
Parish Council chairman Roger Bucknell said: "The church is keeping its head above water at the moment, mainly because it is still used a lot by the parish council and other community bodies.
"However, if it is to survive for the long-term future, we will need as many people as possible to support keeping it going because it is a vital meeting place for the residents.
"Things are a lot more difficult these days - everything has to have the right paperwork and it all costs money but we are determined to keep the place going."
