FAMILIES had fun in the sun at an annual scarecrow festival and it is set to continue today.
The Higham Scarecrow Festival saw hundreds of people create wonderful and whacky straw characters and display them in their gardens.
This year’s theme was ‘pantomimes and nursery rhymes’ and entries included Little Boy Blue, Rub-a-Dub-Dub, Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle, Five Little Ducks and Incy Wincy spider.
Visitors to the festival followed a trail map, leading the way to the various entrants.
There was also a children’s ‘scary crows’ trail.
Further children’s entertainment was provided by a small funfair on the village recreation ground.
Yesterday there was morris dancing outside Four Alls Inn, as well as a brass band
Other entertainment included a tombola, stalls, food and drink in the Higham village hall.
St John’s Church, Higham, has also played host to a daily second hand book sale, which is set to continue today.
Today there will a farmers market from 11am to 5pm.
An event spokesman said: “It has been a wonderful family day out."
