THE OFFICIAL opening of the new Laneshawbridge Primary School is to take place this week.
The children moved into the new building in November, but the official opening has been reserved until all work was completed. The official ribbon-cutting will be carried out by County Coun Susie Charles, cabinet member for children and schools, on Wednesday.
She said: “I should like to thank everybody who has been involved in the creation of this beautiful new school.
“Laneshawbridge Primary School is consistently rated as outstanding by Ofsted, and has received numerous prestigious awards.
“It’s always been oversubscribed, and now the school can offer places to more pupils.”
Headteacher Eileen Bleasdale said: “This is like a dream-come-true for us. “The children have watched their new school rise from the ground with a mixture of excitement and wonder.
“We can't believe we're here to stay.
“It has made the most incredible difference to what we can do, and will continue to do so for years to come.”
