VETERAN Labour campaigner Harry Leslie Smith spoke at Padiham Town Hall on Sunday about how pre-NHS, his parents took his eight-year-old sister to the workhouse hospital to die after contracting TB. Burnley Labour candidate Julie Cooper said: “ It was a stark reminder that we cannot take the NHS for granted.”
