COUNCILLORS across Hyndburn will be taking to the streets in the next few weeks.
But they are not delivering leaflets, speeches, or collecting signatures on a petition — they will be scraping chewing gum off the floor.
The councillors will be taking part in a community clean up day as part of a national ‘spring clean’ on Saturday, which will mark the first day of spring.
Environmental boss Cllr Paul Cox said: “Chewing gum blights footpaths as it’s difficult to remove .”
