Volunteers to plant hedges
ON Saturday and Sunday, Friends of Square Meadow volunteers began to plant a fruit hedge interspersed with trees at the site behind the former Darwen Moorland High School in Holden Fold.
They set about 60 trees and 100 hedge whips thanks to the generosity of The Woodland Trust, IKEA and Green Gym at Witton Park.
The planting will continue at 9am next Saturday.
