GRAHAM Jones, MP for Haslingden and Hyndburn, spent a day with Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team.

The Labour politician was ‘surprised’ that the intrepid group is made up entirely of volunteers and their work is funded solely by donations.

Victoria Wakeman, from the team, said: “We are grateful to Graham for the time and the advice he gave us, in particular with respect to our ongoing search for a new base.

“In return, we showed him the equipment and vehicles that we run after having a discussion about the service we provide, the volunteers that make up RPMRT and the constant struggle of fundraising.”
