TWO girls from Burnley have received funding for a seven-day residential trip to Portsmouth, as part of a Tall Ship Challenge.
Rachel Dooley and Georgina Cambridge have received £300 from Lancashire County Council towards the £1,600 total cost of their trip.
The project will help the two 16 year-olds to experience the Tall Ship Challenge in Portsmouth.
The aim of the week-long residential is to learn about sailing, while increasing their self-confidence, encouraging teamwork and learning new skills.
The funding from the county council was given by County Coun Kim Snape, champion for young people.
She said: “I’m pleased to support Rachel and Georgina for their residential in Portsmouth.
“The role of the Champion is to support young people from Lancashire to have new experiences and learn new skills.
“It sounds like a really interesting opportunity for them both.”
