ROSSENDALE Council has announced it will be backing a campaign to end male violence against women and girls.
The local authority has formally agreed to support the White Ribbon Campaign and is urging men and boys to wear a white ribbon for one or two weeks from November 25, the international day for the eradication of violence against women.
Working in partnership with Rossendale Against Domestic Abuse, the council is attempting to raise awareness and support in tackling social norms that lead to violent behaviour, and will also be seeking to become recognised as a ‘White Ribbon Town’.
Rossendale’s Mayor, Coun Tom Aldred, will act as key ambassador of the campaign.
He said: “Domestic violence can affect the whole family and community.”
