RESIDENTS have been reminded to secure their properties after an increase in burglaries across East Lancashire during the recent warm weather.
Lancashire police said almost two in every three burglaries in the region are at insecure properties.
Officers are urging people to lock up to keep thieves out.
Sgt Andy Horne said: “We need residents to work with us to help tackle burglary.
“Home owners face an increased risk of becoming a victim if their property is left insecure – an open window or door is an open opportunity for thieves. Always keep doors and windows locked.”
The advice includes closing and locking doors and windows when you go out, even if you are just in the garden and keeping an eye on your neighbours’ property.
