THE next stage of Ribble Valley Mayor Michael Ranson’s revival of the borough’s historic ‘boundary walk’ takes place on Wednesday.
He is reviving an ancient custom of ‘beating the bounds’ to raise cash for charity.
This involves walking Ribble Valley’s 85-mile boundary during his Mayoral year. Coun Ranson is undertaking the trek in 20 sections ranging from four to six miles on selected Wednesdays, inviting residents to join him.
The next stage of the walk will leave Downham at 5pm and process to Rimington. Ribble Valley council health officer Barrie Williams has set up the walks.
