ONE in 10 students are dropping out of university because of a ‘learning gap’.
The Open University has discovered that 11 per cent of students were unhappy with their choice of course last year, and 18,000 dropped out of university. A scheme funded by the university which provides web-based courses found that this was partly attributed to the 'learning gap' that exists between A-level and university.
On Thursday, FutureLearn, the Open University funded provider of free online courses, will launch a partnership with a selection of schools in the Beacon Schools Programme.
