A MASKED man armed with a hammer attempted to rob a Burnley supermarket.
The offender entered Tesco Express in Casterton Avenue on Saturday at around 11.17pm, and demanded staff gave him cash from the till.
While in the store, the man damaged a lottery machine and the front door of the store by hitting them with the hammer. He made off empty-handed.
The man was wearing a dark blue hoody with the hood pulled up, a scarf over his face, black gloves and a distinctive pair of black and white high-top trainers.
