PUPILS at Padiham Primary School will be taking part in a special project to commemorate war sacrifice.
The school plans to take an active role in the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, it was announced. The Burnley Road school said the project, ‘Little Children Weak – Burnley in the Great War’, will see pupils take part in projects this term.
The town-wide project will come to a climax on August 4 which marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War. The town will mark this occasion with the placing of a wooden cross commemorating every soldier from Burnley and its districts who gave their life in the conflict. Padiham Primary pupils will lay crosses in the run up to the day between the entrance to Towneley Holmes and the Hall in late July 2014.
