A WEATHER phenomenon thought to have been a ‘mini tornado’ which swept through Barrowford, was actually a dust devil, an expert has explained.
Matthew Hugo, director and senior meteorologist at North West Weather Services, said the whirlwind which passed at the back of Abigail Salkeld’s Bankfold home was caused by a swirling updraft. They usually happen in sunny conditions during a period of fair weather.
